Moscow’s International Cooperation: Key Priorities and Achievements
On April 10, members of the Moscow City Duma held a working meeting with leaders of the city’s executive authorities. Among the speakers was Sergey Cheremin, Minister of the Government of Moscow and Head of the Department for External Economic and International Relations, who presented the Department’s key focus areas and summarized Moscow’s international cooperation achievements.
“One of the Department’s primary objectives is to develop and implement an effective strategy for Moscow’s external economic and international activities aimed at strengthening the city’s global standing and creating favorable conditions for investment,” noted Sergey Cheremin.
Moscow currently maintains stable partnerships with over 100 foreign cities and regions, with more than 150 active bilateral cooperation agreements covering urban development, infrastructure modernization, and digital technologies. Emphasis is placed on knowledge exchange within the “Smart and Safe City” project.
The Department coordinates various international events – from Moscow Days abroad to forums, business missions, and conferences – all contributing to enhancing the capital’s reputation as a business and cultural hub.
The city continues systematic work with Russian expatriates through programs preserving Russian language, culture, and historical memory, implemented through events in both neighboring and distant countries.
Notable recent investment projects include hotel construction and renovation, sports facility development, conference and exhibition infrastructure expansion, and localization of high-tech manufacturing, implemented in cooperation with partners from China, Italy, Singapore, Belarus, and other nations.
Current foreign trade projects exceed 6 billion in value, while total attracted investments over the past five years have surpassed 6 billion in value, while total attracted investments over the past five years have surpassed 4 billion.
Moscow continues to strengthen its position on the global stage as an open, technologically advanced, and competitive megacity.
