Moscow and Vientiane Sign Cooperation Agreement for 2025-2028Capitals of Russia and Laos Strengthen Partnership Ties

As part of the cultural event “Days of Vientiane” in Moscow on February 27, 2025, an important cooperation agreement was signed between the Moscow Government and the Vientiane Municipality.

The document was signed with the participation of Sergei Cheremin, Minister of the Moscow Government and Head of the Department for External Economic and International Relations, and Atsaphangthong Siphandone, Mayor of Vientiane.

“Despite sanctions, Moscow continues to develop relations with foreign partners. At the moment, we have over 150 successful cooperation programs with international regions. For Moscow, it is very important to maintain friendly and partnership ties with Southeast Asia and ASEAN countries. We will continue to support active interaction and exchange of experience in transport infrastructure, IT technologies, and municipal governance,” emphasized Sergei Cheremin.

The cooperation program aims to strengthen bilateral ties in areas such as culture, urban planning, ecology, tourism, industry, innovation, and the economy. Special attention is paid to sharing expertise in developing trade relations and supporting high-tech industries.

The parties agreed to exchange experience in preserving cultural heritage, contemporary art, urban development, ecological sustainability, tourism, and transport infrastructure. Moscow is ready to share its expertise in modernizing transport systems and developing eco-friendly transportation.
