Moscow to Host the International Transport Summit
The International Transport Summit will be held in Moscow from August 21 to 25, with the Situation Center of the City of Moscow serving as the main venue. The event is organized by the Department of Transport and Road Infrastructure Development of Moscow in cooperation with the Department for External Economic and International Relations of Moscow. The summit will bring together city leaders, ministers of transport and digital development, heads of transport and technology companies, infrastructure development experts, and representatives of the academic community. Over 150 international guests from various countries are expected to attend.
This event will serve as the largest expert platform dedicated to addressing the current transport challenges faced by metropolitan areas. The summit aims to identify emerging trends in the transport sector, facilitate international knowledge exchange in advanced technologies, and foster new business connections in urban development. The initiative is designed to enhance transport policy, strengthen cooperation among partner regions, and help outline promising directions for future collaboration. An in-depth analysis of existing transport systems will contribute to improving mobility for urban residents.
The official opening ceremony will take place on August 22 at 10:00 a.m. Welcoming remarks will be delivered by Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport, and Sergey Cheremin, Minister of the Government of Moscow, Head of Department for External Economic and International Relations. On the first day, participants will exchange insights on the integration of innovative technologies into the urban environment. Both Russian and international speakers will share best practices in urban mobility.
On August 23, guests will take part in focused discussions during thematic sessions and roundtables. A special session will present the results of the first year of the international analytics project UrbanTransportData, developed with the participation of Moscow’s transport complex and DEEIR. The platform gathers, analyzes, visualizes, and publishes transport data from the world’s major cities. It also features an expert forum and a knowledge base on urban transport.
Additional summit topics include “High-Speed Rail Corridors,” “Road Safety and Traffic Management,” “Transport, Environment and Public Health,” “Digital Services and Ticketing Systems,” “Integration of Urban Rail Transit,” and “Water and Alternative Urban Transport.”
In addition to the business program, participants will be offered three thematic tour routes showcasing Moscow’s transport achievements: “Moscow Rail Backbone and Rolling Stock,” “Electric Transport,” and “Digital Transport.” These tours will include visits to key infrastructure sites such as the Big Circle Line (BCL), Moscow Central Diameters (MCD), Moscow Central Circle (MCC), the Sokolniki Car Repair and Construction Plant, the electric bus depot, and the Unified Dispatch Center, among others.
The International Transport Summit was first held in Moscow in 2019. Last year, the event attracted more than 60 international guests from 18 countries.
