On February 9, 2024, a grand celebration of the Chinese New Year took place at the Huamin Park business center in Moscow.
The opening ceremony was attended by Zhang Hanhui, China’s Ambassador to Russia; Sergey Cheremin, Minister of the Government of Moscow, Head of the Department for External Economic and International Relations; as well as representatives from the Russian Foreign Ministry, the Russian Ministry of Culture, and the Moscow City Hall.
This marks the first large-scale celebration of the Lunar New Year in Moscow following President Vladimir Putin’s decree declaring 2024 and 2025 as the Cross Years of Culture between Russia and China. The two nations are also commemorating the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations this year.
The Lunar New Year festivities, organized by the Government of Moscow with the support of the Chinese Embassy in Russia and the participation of the Russian Foreign Ministry, will continue until February 18.
