Moscow and Minsk Strengthen Cooperation

From August 11 to 13, 2025, a working visit to Minsk, Republic of Belarus, was made by Sergei Cheremin, Minister of the Government of Moscow, Head of the Department for External Economic and International Relations of Moscow.

During the visit, a meeting was held with the Chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee, V.E. Kukharev, as well as with the heads of leading Belarusian organizations and enterprises. The main topic of the negotiations was the implementation of the agreements reached during the visit of Moscow Mayor S.S. Sobyanin to Minsk in December 2024. The participants discussed prospects for the development of Moscow-Belarus cooperation in the fields of construction, municipal services, and social policy, as well as support for the business communities of the two capitals in promoting goods and services in each other’s markets. Belarus remains one of Moscow’s key trading partners and consistently ranks among the top four in terms of foreign trade volume, holding the fourth position among the capital’s international partner countries in both 2024 and 2025.

The Belarusian side confirmed its intention to hold the Days of Minsk in Moscow from September 18 to 21, 2025. The event program will include a business forum, concert performances, sporting competitions, a fair-exhibition of Belarusian goods, industry roundtables, and other events aimed at strengthening the partnership ties between the cities. Sergei Cheremin noted that Muscovites are awaiting the upcoming Days of Minsk with great interest, which will be a highlight in the city’s cultural life.

The visit contributed to the further strengthening of bilateral cooperation and identified new areas for joint work. Moscow intends to both maintain and strengthen its cooperation with Minsk by developing joint projects and expanding the horizons of interaction. This stable and dynamic dialogue between the capitals serves as a reliable foundation for a long-term partnership.
