The Grand Opening Ceremony of the “Day of India” Festival in Moscow

On August 14, Moscow hosted the official opening of the “Day of India” festival. The ceremony was attended by the Minister of the Government of Moscow, Head of the Department for External Economic and International Relations, Sergey Cheremin; the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to the Russian Federation, Mr. Vinay Kumar; and the President of the Indian Cultural and National Center “Sita,” Mr. Sammy Kotwani.
The distinguished guests toured the festival grounds, followed by a tree-planting ceremony dedicated to the 78th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Russia and India.
Visitors were delighted by performances of traditional Indian dance ensembles, after which the organizers and official representatives delivered their welcoming addresses.
In his remarks, Mr. Sammy Kotwani, President of the Indian Cultural and National Center “Sita,” emphasized the significance of cultural exchange and friendship between the two nations. Ambassador Vinay Kumar expressed gratitude for the warm reception and underlined the importance of strengthening bilateral ties.
Sergey Cheremin, Minister of the Government of Moscow, Head of the Department for External Economic and International Relations, invited Muscovites to immerse themselves in the festive atmosphere:
“We take pride in the fact that India has become the Russian Federation’s second-largest foreign trade partner and one of Moscow’s key international trade partners. We enjoy excellent relations with the capital territory of Delhi and actively cooperate with the major metropolises of Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, and Bangalore. Together, we are confidently moving forward despite the challenges of today’s world,” Cheryomin noted.
The “Day of India” festival is a vibrant and unforgettable celebration, bringing guests the true spirit of India. From August 14 to 17, 2025, visitors to Moscow’s “Dream Island” park will enjoy a rich program of cultural performances, master classes, and culinary experiences. Admission is free.
