Business Forum “Moscow – Dubai: Cities of a Sustainable Future” Opens

As part of the Moscow Days program in the United Arab Emirates, a plenary session of the Business Forum “Moscow – Dubai: Cities of a Sustainable Future” was held on December 11. The session was devoted to promising areas of interregional cooperation with the UAE, increasing trade turnover, technological and economic cooperation, as well as the development of financial infrastructure.

The session was moderated by Sergey Cheremin, Minister of the Government of Moscow and Head of the Department for External Economic and International Relations of Moscow. The discussion was attended by representatives of government bodies, international business associations, export agencies, and heads of high‑tech companies operating in information systems, artificial intelligence, computer vision, robotics, and digital platforms. The main focus was on promising vectors of interregional partnership, including through increasing trade turnover and investment flows between Moscow and the Emirates.

Sergey Cheremin noted that trade and economic relations are demonstrating stability and potential for further growth. According to him, in 2024, trade turnover between Moscow and the UAE reached nearly $3 billion. The minister also reported that the Russian capital actively participates in economic exhibitions held in the UAE and spoke about Moscow’s economic successes.

“Moscow’s industry grew by 100% last year. Small and medium‑sized businesses are growing, the number of sole proprietors is increasing, and the creative industries are showing rapid growth. All of this is impossible without active dialogue between business and government,” Cheremin emphasized.

The minister also noted that the growing presence of Russian companies not only in Dubai but throughout the Emirates indicates business growth. He stressed that Dubai and Moscow are among the most advanced megacities in terms of digitalization across all municipal sectors.

The forum became a significant platform for strengthening bilateral ties and identifying concrete steps towards jointly building a sustainable and technologically advanced future for the two dynamic megacities.
