Roundtable with Russian Compatriot Organizations Held in Almaty
On November 19, a roundtable meeting with representatives of Russian compatriot organizations living in Kazakhstan took place in Almaty. The event was organized by the Department for External Economic and International Relations of Moscow, the Moscow House of Compatriots, and the Moscow Centre for International Cooperation.
The meeting was attended by Igor Tkach, Deputy Head of the Department for External Economic and International Relations; Natalia Sorokina, Consul of the Russian Federation in Almaty; Oleg Klimov, Deputy Director of the Moscow House of Compatriots; Alexey Goryany, Head of a Department at the Moscow House of Compatriots; representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church; and leaders of compatriot organizations that are members of the Coordination Council of Russian Compatriots in Kazakhstan.
Participants discussed a range of topics, including the prospects for cooperation between Russian compatriot organizations and the Government of Moscow, the role of the Orthodox Church in strengthening intercultural dialogue, and ways to harness the creative potential of the Russian community in Kazakhstan.
