Moscow Takes Part in Smart Nation Expo 2025
A Moscow delegation led by Sergey Cheremin, Minister of the Government of Moscow and Head of the Department for External Economic and International Relations, took part in Smart Nation Expo 2025, a major technology exhibition in Southeast Asia. The event was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and served as an effective platform for dialogue between government and business, aimed at exchanging experience in digital technology and creating a comfortable urban environment. Moscow participated in the exhibition for the third time.
Smart Nation Expo 2025 brought together government representatives, high‑tech companies, urban planners, and leading urbanists. The venue showcased innovative solutions in smart cities, 5G technologies, artificial intelligence, data center management, and electric transport. The Moscow stand featured a large‑scale interactive exposition, where visitors learned about Moscow’s current digital projects. In the Russian capital, digital technologies are actively used across all sectors – e‑government, construction, transport, housing and utilities, education, healthcare, security, and environmental protection. Moscow companies presented cutting‑edge solutions in virtual reality, biometric systems, cybersecurity, business process optimization platforms, and more. The Moscow stand was visited by Dato’ Sri Haji Fadillah Haji Yusof, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation of Malaysia, who highly praised the projects on display and expressed particular interest in collaborating on the creation of a digital twin for Kuala Lumpur, based on Moscow’s example. The Moscow stand received the award for Best Stand at the exhibition for the third time.
On the sidelines of Smart Nation Expo 2025, the Asia Smart Cities Summit took place.
During the visit, the Moscow delegation met with the new Mayor of Kuala Lumpur, Mr. Fadlun Mak Ujud. Notably, the newly appointed mayor chose to hold his very first meeting with a foreign delegation with representatives from Moscow. The discussions covered cooperation in planning the development of large urban agglomerations. The Moscow delegation demonstrated the city’s digital twin and proposed collaboration on creating digital twins and other smart city projects. Around 300 digital projects are launched in Moscow every year. The capital uses a wide range of digital technologies – including artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, big data, and digital twins – to make life as comfortable and safe as possible for its residents. Sergey Cheremin spoke about Moscow’s key digital platform, the mos.ru portal, which serves as a one‑stop shop for citizens and city authorities, allowing individuals and businesses to access municipal services online without queues or paperwork.
Participation in Smart Nation Expo 2025 helped strengthen the brand of the Russian capital as a leader in the digitalization of all areas of urban life. Moscow expressed its readiness to collaborate with other megacities in high technology. At the exhibition, Moscow businesses had the opportunity to present their innovative projects and find new international partners.
