Moscow at the Annual Investment Summit in the UAE

Moscow was recognized as the best in the nomination “Central Asia, the Caucasus and Russia” аt the Annual Investment Summit at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center on May 8-10, 2023. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin noted, that «This AIM investment award has once again proved that the system of attracting investments to the city economy works very efficiently. After all, we compete with global financial centers in such international awards».

At the exposition stand organized by the Moscow Center for International Cooperation during the Summit, Moscow demonstrated its most successful solutions in the field of digitalization, as well as projects related to the implementation of the principles of sustainable development in the city. In particular, Moscow companies held a presentation of POS terminals for vending and validators for transport; personal 3D printers widely used in the automotive industry, aircraft, instrumentation, medicine, education; Russian software for automating the budget process; models of an electric vessel with a berth for charging, as well as a satellite for remote sensing of the Earth “Zorky” and a data satellite of the Internet of Things “Technostat”, with the use of which it is planned to deploy multi-satellite groupings of spacecraft to receive data and provide services based on them. In addition, an unmanned cleaning robot Pixel, developed with the support of the Moscow Innovation Cluster Foundation, was demonstrated at the stand of the Moscow Government.

Within the framework of the Summit, Minister of the Government of Moscow, Head of the Department for External Economic and International Relations of Moscow Sergei Cheremin took part in the session «Cities of the Future: Digital transformation: integration of innovative technologies». He presented the main provisions of the Smart City 2030 strategy and also spoke about the investment potential of Moscow. He noted the leading role of the capital among Russian regions in terms of investment attractiveness, and also paid attention to specific measures aimed at observing the principles of sustainable development in the city.

The session on Moscow’s investment potential was attended by more than 100 representatives of the expert and business communities, as well as government agencies of the Middle East countries.

In addition, the Minister of the Government of Moscow, Head of the Department for External Economic and International Relations Sergei Cheremin, at the session «Russia – Middle East: cooperation for economic growth and human well-being», noted that Russia’s interaction with the countries of the Middle East goes beyond the traditional economic sphere and is actively developing in such areas as culture, healthcare, education, sports, tourism. Moscow is ready to support this process and promote the development of all areas of cooperation.

Besides, on the Annual Investment Summit, negotiations were held with the Director General of the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange, Mr. Alnuaimi, with His Excellency Ali Said bin Harmal Al Daheri, First Deputy Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and a member of the Board of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Khaled Abdul Karim Al Fahim on increasing trade and economic cooperation between the companies of Moscow and the capital emirate of the United Arab Emirates – Abu Dhabi. Also, during the meeting with His Excellency Ahmed Jasem Alzaabi, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development, the parties discussed new areas of cooperation within the framework of the Cooperation Program signed in December 2021 between the Government of Moscow and Abu Dhabi.

Meeting with His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of State for Tolerance of the United Arab Emirates also was held.
