Moscow Hosts Presentation of the 2025 Latin America and Caribbean Cultural Festival

On June 24, 2025, the House of Latin America hosted the official presentation of the program for the Latin America and Caribbean Cultural Festival. The event marked the beginning of a series of activities leading up to one of this summer’s most vibrant international cultural celebrations, set to take place in Moscow from July 19 to 27.

The festival is organized by the Government of Moscow and the Department for External Economic and International Relations of Moscow, with support from the Moscow Center for International Cooperation.

The evening opened with a welcoming address by Yulia Surilova, Director of the House of Latin America. Attendees were then treated to a video recap of the 2024 festival, which drew around 100,000 visitors and became the capital’s premier platform for Latin American culture.

Sergey Cheremin, Minister of the Government of Moscow, Head of the Department for External Economic and International Relations, addressed the audience:
“I would be delighted to see this tradition continue. Each year, the festival grows in scale. Four years ago, we started with a modest event, a good one, but nothing like the turnout we see today, dear friends. Last year, in my opinion, was extraordinary: a packed program, brilliant concerts, performances by talented ensembles, masterclasses, and a wonderful gastronomic section.”

The presentation continued with remarks from Yulia Bragina, Director of the Russian State Film Fund’s Department, who introduced the upcoming Latin American and Caribbean Film Festival.

Key partners also shared their plans. In a video message, Miguel Palacio, Deputy Director General of the Library of Foreign Literature, highlighted the library’s events. Dr. Ulyana Aristova, Professor at HSE University, announced an international panel discussion on “Sustainable Fashion and Conscious Consumption in Russia and Latin America.”

Representatives from MosKino film park invited diplomatic missions to a special tour, while the Mayakovsky Theater team previewed their upcoming performance, Love According to Márquez.

The event concluded with speeches by diplomats from the Dominican Republic, Peru, and Venezuela, as well as guests who proposed ideas for expanding the festival’s program.

The musical atmosphere was enlivened by performances from the Largo ensemble and the Latin Boys cover band, who delivered popular Latin American hits.

The festival will open on July 19 at Hermitage Garden and run through July 27 across Moscow’s leading cultural venues. The program features music and dance shows, national exhibitions, culinary presentations, film screenings, lectures, and workshops, showcasing the rich diversity of the region’s cultures.
