Moscow’s Department for External Economic and International Relations Participates in SPIEF

The Department for External Economic and International Relations of Moscow actively participated in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), with technical support provided by the ANO “Moscow Center for International Cooperation”.

Sergey Cheremin, Minister of the Government of Moscow, Head of Department for External Economic and International Relations, took part in several key forum events. During the “Russia-Thailand” business dialogue, he highlighted the stable and multifaceted cooperation between Moscow and Bangkok, emphasizing potential for further collaboration in tourism, digital transformation, and transportation.

At the B20 Regional Consultation Forum “Inclusive Growth and Prosperity Through Global Cooperation”, Cheremin underscored the importance of sharing best urban practices amid global urbanization. He presented Moscow’s experience in digitalization, transport infrastructure modernization, and support for small and medium-sized enterprises.

The theme of interregional cooperation was further explored during the panel discussion “City Diplomacy as a Driver of Interregional Cooperation and International Economic Development,” moderated by Cheremin. The session showcased successful partnerships between Moscow and foreign counterparts, including Havana (Cuba) and India’s Maharashtra state.

Special attention was given to advancing Russian-Indian economic ties. During the “Russia-India” business dialogue, also moderated by Cheremin, participants discussed prospects for expanding trade and economic cooperation. It was noted that bilateral trade reached approximately $70 billion in 2024, with Moscow accounting for over $38 billion of this volume.

On June 20, the forum hosted the award ceremony for the VIII Prize for International Cooperation and Development of External Economic Activities. Established by the “Moscow Center for International Cooperation” and the “Roscongress”, the honors were presented by Sergey Cheremin. The award recognizes outstanding contributions to strengthening international ties and expanding global business opportunities.
