Moscow took part in Smart Cities India Expo 2024

From January 17 to 19, 2024, a delegation of the Moscow Government took part in the international Smart Cities India Expo in New Delhi for the first time.

The Moscow Center for International Cooperation organized the work of the Moscow stand, where Moscow’s information and high-tech solutions were presented, as well as successful experience in implementing the Smart City project, including an intelligent transport system, online public services, the Moscow Electronic School platform and the use of artificial intelligence. The visitors learned how Moscow achieves the goals of creating a comfortable, developing, cultural and safe urban environment for every resident of the megapolis. 13 Russian companies took part in the work of the stand.

Indian specialists were particularly interested in the Moscow Regional Environmental Monitoring System, which includes air quality monitoring, monitoring of surface water bodies, soil quality monitoring, monitoring of green spaces, noise level monitoring, monitoring of hazardous geoecological processes, as well as environmentally friendly electric transport in Moscow, in particular, electric trams. The visitors of the stand paid special attention to the digital projects of the capital in such areas as e-government, urban economy, environment, human resources, safety and ecology.

The Smart Cities Forum was held on January 18, 2024. The forum was organized by the Department for External Economic and International Relations of Moscow, the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of India, the Trade Mission of the Russian Federation in India and the Moscow Center for International Cooperation. ANO “MCMS” acted as the operator of the event, providing technical support for the event.

Sergey Cheryomin, Minister of the Government of Moscow, Head of the Department for External Economic and International Relations of Moscow, Chairman of the Board of the Business Council for Cooperation with India, made a presentation “Moscow is a smart and sustainable city”, during which he noted that today the Russian capital is one of the few cities in the world where almost all tools are used for effective use resources and improving the quality of life of citizens while maintaining an optimal level of environmental impact. The Minister also stressed that Moscow continues to achieve and maintain success in various areas of development, demonstrating positive economic growth and trends.

As part of the Smart Cities India Expo, on January 17-19, 2024, business meetings were held between Sergey Cheremin, Minister of the Government of Moscow, Head of the Department for External Economic and International Relations of Moscow, with Manoj Joshi, Deputy Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Charanjit Singh, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Jaishankar, and Dammu Ravi, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of India.

During the meetings, issues related to the intensification of bilateral cooperation in the field of urban development, urban planning, the introduction of digital technologies into the urban management system, education, health, the economic sphere, as well as cooperation in the field of renovation and housing and communal services were discussed. The participants of the meetings also discussed the possibilities of holding joint Moscow-Indian cultural, humanitarian and business events in 2024.
