Smart Nation Expo 2023

As a part of the visit of the Moscow Government delegation to Kuala Lumpur for the Smart Nation Expo 2023 technology exhibition on September 18-22, 2023, the Moscow Center for International Cooperation acted as the operator of a set of events for the organization, preparation and operation of the Moscow stand. In addition, we provided technical support to the event, provided a staff of interpreters for negotiations, organized and ensured the stay of participants and invited experts during the days of the event.

The delegation included representatives of the management of the Department for External Economic and International Relations of Moscow, the Department of Information Technology of Moscow, the Department of Environmental Management and Environmental Protection of Moscow, the Department of Education and Science of Moscow, the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry, directors of Moscow schools and colleges.

The delegation was accompanied by a business mission from representatives of Moscow companies in the field of IT, smart city solutions, video surveillance, cybersecurity, urbanism, development and others. Among them were representatives of Sitronics (a multidisciplinary Russian IT company), Intermobility (operator of urban electric charging stations), VisionLabs (developer of facial recognition systems, computer and machine learning), Cels (medical screening systems), Rublevo-Arkhangelskoe and others.

Viacheslav Manuylov, Deputy Head of the Department for External Economic and International Relations of Moscow, delivered a welcoming speech at the opening of the Moscow stand. The opening ceremony was also attended by the Minister of Housing and Local Self-Government of Malaysia, Mr. Tuan Nga Kor Min, Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation of Malaysia, Mr. Datuk Arthur Joseph Kurup, Trade Representative of the Russian Federation in Malaysia N.V. Ponomarenko, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Malaysia N.M. Latypov and the General Director of JSC Rublevo-Arkhangelsk A.N. Likhachev.

One of the key events within the framework of the exhibition was the Asia Smart Cities Summit forum, in which Viacheslav Manuylov, Deputy Head of the Department for External Economic and International Relations of Moscow, acted as a speaker. Within the framework of the summit, a report on the topic “Smart and sustainable Moscow” was presented, including up-to-date information on the development of the Russian capital, as well as on the latest achievements of Moscow in the implementation of “smart” solutions for the city. The dynamic development of Moscow and the implementation of large-scale infrastructure projects have approved the capital as the best city on Earth.

During the work of the Moscow stand, B2B meetings of participants of the business mission of Moscow and large Malaysian companies, project presentations, lectures and pitching sessions were held. During the meetings, the companies discussed bilateral projects, vectors of mutually beneficial cooperation, and also agreed to exchange relevant information and developments to prepare for further cooperation. This event has become a platform for active bilateral cooperation between Moscow and Kuala Lumpur.

Smart Nation Expo Kuala Lumpur 2023 attracted more than 20 thousand participants from 54 countries and established itself as the largest technical exhibition in the region dedicated to smart cities, 5G, Industrial Revolution 4.0, new applications and technologies.

According to the results of the Smart Nation Expo 2023 exhibition, the stand of the Moscow Government took first place in the nomination “Best at the show” as the best stand at the exhibition.
