The Days of Moscow in Minsk

Minsk (Republic of Belarus) hosted The Days of Moscow on December 23–24, featuring a Moscow delegation and a program of business meetings, sporting events, and cultural activities.

The event was organized by the Government of Moscow, the Department for External Economic and International Relations of Moscow, and the Moscow Center for International Cooperation.

The grand opening on December 23 was attended by Sergey Cheremin, Minister of the Government of Moscow, Head of the Department for External Economic and International Relations. Guests enjoyed performances by the Moscow State Academic Dance Theater “Gzhel” and the art group “Turetsky Choir.”

On December 24, as part of The Days of Moscow, a Working Group Meeting on Moscow-Belarus Cooperation Coordination was held, chaired by Sergey Cheremin and Vladimir Kukharev, Chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee. The parties discussed collaboration between the two capitals and assessed progress in key areas, including economy, education, and sports.

According to Sergey Cheremin, trade turnover between Moscow-based organizations and Belarusian partners reached $10.5 billion in the first half of 2024 – a 7.4% increase compared to the same period in 2023. Moscow’s exports to Belarus grew by 11.4% to $5.4 billion, while imports from Belarus rose by 3.4% to $5.1 billion.

“For us, The Days of Moscow are more than just a cultural event. They strengthen our friendship and complement our excellent economic ties. We are proud that Belarus has now become Moscow’s fourth-largest trade partner,” Cheremin emphasized.

The program also included a chess tournament between Moscow and Minsk teams, a friendly hockey match (featuring under-13 teams from both cities), and New Year’s performances (“Moscow Christmas Tree at the House of Moscow”).
