VII International Council for Cultural Heritage in Moscow

The VII International Council on Cultural Heritage was held in Moscow on November 28-30, 2023.. The event was organized with the assistance of the Department for External Economic and International Relations of Moscow, the Department of Cultural Heritage of Moscow and the Moscow Center for International Cooperation. ANO “MCIC” acted as the operator of the event, providing information, logistical and organizational support.

As a part of the event, foreign delegations visited Moscow. The guests were offered an extensive business and cultural program.

Foreign guests visited the Russian Academy of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture of Ilya Glazunov, where they met with I.I. Glazunov. During the visit, a round table was held with students of the Academy, which allowed the participants to exchange their experience on the conduct and methods of restoration work.

The III Competition of student works was also held for the best project of the concept of organizing an archaeological park on the territory of archaeological heritage sites of federal significance – the Sungir parking lot, the Gorodok settlement and two groups of mounds (the city of Vladimir, Russian Federation). At the competition, students submitted design papers for defense. At the end of the event, the participants of the competition were awarded diplomas and certificates.

On November 29, the II International Symposium of NC ICOMOS, dedicated to the end of the Year of Teacher and Mentor was held at the Moscow Architectural Institute (State Academy) (MARKHI). The symposium became a platform for discussing issues of preservation of cultural heritage sites and their integration into modern life, construction in a historical environment. Also at the reporting conference of NC ICOMOS, Russia, the results of the committee’s work over the past year were summarized.

In addition, on November 30, delegates participated in the work of the II profile Moscow exhibition “Restoration. Import substitution in restoration materials and technologies”. Within the framework of the exhibition, experts met with the Mayor of Moscow, Sergei Sobyanin.

The program of the event was diversified by a visit to the Depot food mall “Three Railway Stations”, Zaryadye Park, the HPP-2 House of Culture, as well as the State Budgetary Institution of Culture of Moscow “The State Pushkin Museum”.

As a part of the cultural program, the participants visited the Moscow Academic Musical Theater named after K.S. Stanislavsky and V.I. Nemirovich-Danchenko, where they were able to evaluate the opera “The Tsar’s Bride”.
