Annual “India Day” Festival to Take Place in Moscow from August 15-18
From August 15 to 18, Moscow will host the ninth annual “India Day” festival at the “Island of Dreams” landscape park. Residents and visitors will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the culture, customs, traditions, and exquisite cuisine of this Eastern nation. The festival coincides with India’s Independence Day and marks the 78th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Russia, with this year’s theme centered around family.
Attendees can explore over 20 themed zones, including “Holi,” “Dance,” “Yoga and Meditation,” “Bollywood Cinema,” “Mehndi and Astrology,” and “A Live Indian Wedding,” alongside an extensive educational program featuring lectures and workshops. The festival will also host an Indian bazaar, a grand chariot procession, Indian film screenings, a family fashion show, and a chess tournament.
The dance program will showcase performances by 200 professional dancers from India and Russia. More than 120 shops and authentic restaurants will offer a taste of India through gourmet products and traditional dishes. Over 70 yoga schools from across Russia will lead sessions, while sports activities will be conducted by instructors and masters from various countries.
A highlight of the festival will be the “Indian Wedding” zone, where couples can experience marriage ceremonies following Indian traditions and witness a traditional wedding. Additionally, the “Chalo India” photo exhibition will display stunning images capturing India’s natural beauty and cultural heritage.
All events are free and cater to visitors of all ages. Pre-registered participants will receive a gift from the organizers. The festival is part of a broader cultural exchange program between Russia and India and is supported by the Department of Culture and the Department for External Economic and International Relations of Moscow. Last year’s edition attracted over two million guests.
