Department for External Economic and International Relations of Moscow to Participate in SPIEF

Department for External Economic and International Relations of Moscow will traditionally take part in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, scheduled for June 18–21.

On June 18, Sergey Cheremin, Minister of the Government of Moscow, Head of the Department for External Economic and International Relations of Moscow, will speak at the “Russia–Thailand” Business Dialogue. The event will bring together representatives from both countries’ official and business communities. Key topics of discussion will include removing barriers to mutual trade, transitioning to national currency settlements, developing new transport routes, bilateral investment cooperation, implementing green technologies, and advancing the smart city concept. The session will also address interregional cooperation as a tool for sharing expertise and fostering innovation.

That same day, the roundtable “Regions and Economic Zones: New Horizons for Russian–Chinese Cooperation” will be held, with Sergey Cheremin among the participants. The main focus will be the growing role of Chinese investment in the development of Russian regions. These investments are becoming a significant driver of economic growth, supporting infrastructure modernization and enabling sustainable long-term technological and industrial collaboration.

On June 19, Department for External Economic and International Relations will co-organize the panel discussion “City Diplomacy as a Driver of Interregional Cooperation and International Economic Engagement,” moderated by Sergey Cheremin. The discussion will explore how, in an era of globalization, interregional ties and city diplomacy are playing an increasingly vital role in shaping global dynamics. Participants will examine the most effective tools and formats for addressing complex challenges, including sustainable development, digitalization, the introduction of smart solutions, and the implementation of joint infrastructure projects.

Also on June 19, the Regional Advisory Forum of the Business Twenty (B20) will take place. Held under South Africa’s presidency and the motto “Inclusive Growth and Prosperity Through Global Cooperation,” the forum will be attended by Sergey Cheremin and other officials. Discussions will center on principles of effective public-private collaboration in the face of modern global challenges, as well as the contribution of inclusive approaches to achieving sustainable development goals. Following the forum, B20 recommendations will be prepared for G20 leaders across key areas: employment and education, trade and investment, digital transformation, finance, and infrastructure.

Russia and India have long maintained close cooperation in economic, scientific, technological, and cultural spheres. In the face of shifting geopolitical realities, both countries are tasked with developing balanced approaches to strengthening foreign trade relations and deepening their strategic partnership. The SPIEF program will include a “Russia–India” Business Dialogue, focusing on increasing bilateral trade to USD 100 billion, unlocking the potential of underexplored areas of cooperation, developing sustainable logistics, and advancing the International North–South Transport Corridor project. Participants will include Indian Ambassador to Russia Vinay Kumar, Minister of Railways of India Ashwini Vaishnaw, President of the Indian Business Alliance Sammy Kotwani, and other officials. The dialogue will be moderated by Sergey Cheremin.

Russia and India are also actively collaborating at the interregional level to advance their strategic partnership. Notably, during the forum, a Cooperation Program is expected to be signed between the Moscow Government and the Government of Maharashtra State.
The SPIEF agenda will also feature a ceremonial presentation of the International Cooperation and External Economic Development Award, established by the Moscow Center for International Cooperation and the Roscongress Foundation.
