Moscow and Beijing: Strategic Partnership Reaches a New Level
On June 18, 2025, as part of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, a roundtable titled “Regions and Economic Zones: New Horizons of Russian–Chinese Cooperation” was held. The event was organized by the St. Petersburg Committee and the Russian–Chinese Commerce Guild.
Vyacheslav Manuylov, Deputy Head of the Moscow Department for External Economic and International Relations, took part in the event and shared the current agenda of cooperation between Moscow and China.
“In 2024, trade between Moscow and Beijing reached a record USD 100 billion. We are seeing consistent growth in bilateral trade and investment. More than 300 major Chinese companies are now operating in Moscow, and the city remains attractive to international businesses,” Manuylov stated.
The discussion focused on strengthening China’s investment presence in Russian regions as a key driver of growth, enabling large-scale infrastructure projects and laying the groundwork for long-term industrial and technological partnerships. Moscow continues to play an active role in building a new level of Russian–Chinese engagement—at both the regional and municipal levels.
