Moscow and Doha Strengthen Economic Partnership: Sergey Cheremin Speaks at Russia-Qatar Business Forum

During the official visit of the Emir of the State of Qatar to the Russian Federation, the Russia-Qatar Business Forum was held in Moscow. The event, organized with the participation of Qatar’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Russia’s Ministry of Industry and Trade, and the Roscongress Foundation, served as a key platform for discussing bilateral cooperation in strategic sectors, including investments, logistics, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, sustainable urban development, and tourism.

Sergey Cheremin, Minister of the Government of Moscow and Head of the Department for External Economic and International Relations delivered a keynote address emphasizing the importance of strengthening partnerships between the two capitals.

“Moscow and Doha are not just administrative centers but dynamic, technologically advanced megacities that play a pivotal role in shaping the economic dialogue between Russia and Qatar. Today, we see bilateral cooperation becoming increasingly project-driven, spanning critical areas from infrastructure to digital solutions,” highlighted S.E. Cheremin.

The Minister noted that trade between Moscow-based companies and Qatari partners grew by 27.8% in 2023 and surged by 88.1% in 2024 year-on-year, reflecting strong business interest in deeper collaboration.

Cheremin presented Moscow’s investment and infrastructure potential, including digital business support platforms, innovation clusters, record-breaking transport system development, and sustainable construction and environmental solutions. Specific proposals included involving Qatari companies in Moscow’s investment programs and advancing cultural and tourism initiatives.

Additionally, Moscow confirmed its readiness to host Qatar Culture Days, following the successful events previously dedicated to the UAE, Thailand, and Latin American countries. This step will further strengthen the humanitarian and cultural ties between the two nations.

The Russia-Qatar Business Forum demonstrated the high level of trust and openness between the two capitals, and its outcomes will pave the way for new joint projects.
