Moscow and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry Discuss Deepening Economic Cooperation

On August 19, 2025, an official meeting between a delegation from the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) and the Government of Moscow, along with the Business Council for Cooperation with India, was held at the Moscow Situation Center.

The event was part of the capital’s systematic efforts to develop international business cooperation and strengthen bilateral economic ties between Moscow and the Republic of India.

The meeting was opened by Sergei Cheremin, Minister of the Government of Moscow, Head of the Department for External Economic and International Relations of Moscow, and Chairman of the Business Council for Cooperation with India. In his welcoming address, he emphasized that India is one of Moscow’s key foreign economic partners, and the interest of Indian businesses in the Russian market continues to grow dynamically.

“In 2024, the volume of mutual trade between Moscow and India reached $38.1 billion, which is 28% higher than the 2023 figure. This positive trend has continued into 2025. In the first quarter, trade turnover reached $7.2 billion, an increase of 18.4% compared to the same period last year. Investment cooperation has also strengthened significantly: in recent years, Indian investment in Moscow’s economy has grown more than fourfold, exceeding $160 million. This is clear evidence of the trust and interest of Indian business in the Russian capital,” noted Sergei Cheremin.

Addressing the participants on behalf of the Indian delegation, Mr. Rudra Kumar Pandey, Chairman of FICCI for Cross-Border Investments, expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and noted that the Russian capital is a vital partner for India in high technology, industrial cooperation, and digitalization. He stated that representatives of the Indian business community view Moscow as a promising platform for expanding entrepreneurial activities and are prepared to implement joint projects.

During the business session, specific areas of cooperation were discussed, including the joint development of innovative projects, the exchange of expertise in digital transformation for urban governance, and the expansion of export supplies. Representatives of relevant Russian departments and companies presented current projects being implemented by the Moscow Government in urban infrastructure, industry, IT technologies, and export support, highlighting the convenient mechanisms for entering the Moscow market.

Following the meeting, both sides confirmed their interest in further strengthening the partnership and agreed to continue the dialogue on specific projects in the near future.
