From December 2 to 7, Moscow Days took place in Astana (Kazakhstan), featuring a rich program of cultural and business events. The Moscow delegation was headed by Sergey Cheremin, Minister of the Government of Moscow, Head of the Department for External Economic and International Relations.
The program was extensive and diverse: a concert by People’s Artist of Russia Dmitry Malikov, film screenings, creative meetings, master classes in choreography, painting, organ playing, directing, and chess, a parliamentary chess tournament with students from local chess schools, an art exhibition, children’s performances by a Moscow theater, and New Year celebrations hosted by the Moscow Estate of Father Frost.
The agenda also included business breakfasts, meetings, and forums. On the opening day, December 2, a business breakfast was held for Kazakhstan’s sports federations, featuring a presentation of the World Friendship Games. The Moscow delegation then participated in the Creative Cities Forum: Astana–Moscow, where Sergey Cheremin delivered a keynote address.
According to the Minister, trade turnover between Moscow and Kazakhstan reached USD 3.7 billion in the first six months of 2024. Exports from the Russian capital increased by 14.3% compared to the same period in 2023, totaling USD 1.8 billion.
In his speech, Cheremin presented the results of Moscow’s economic development, noting that over the past ten years, the Government of Moscow has pursued a strategy of socially oriented, resource-efficient growth, supporting exporters, investment activity, and industry.
“Over the last decade, Moscow’s manufacturing sector has increased its output by 80%. In the past year alone, investments in industry and small and medium-sized enterprises nearly doubled. The city is also seeing active growth in microelectronics, construction, aerospace, nanotechnology, and automotive engineering. More than 90 city initiatives now operate with the help of artificial intelligence. Today, Moscow’s leading IT services are successfully used in areas such as big data analysis and security, urban economy and management, healthcare and education, transportation, and the urban environment,” said Sergey Cheremin.
That same day, a business meeting was held between members of the Moscow City Duma and the Maslikhat of Astana, along with a meeting with Astana Akim Zhenis Kassymbek. The day concluded with an official reception hosted by the Government of Moscow.
