Moscow Days Held in Minsk for the Sixth Time
From December 23 to 24, Moscow Days took place in Minsk, Republic of Belarus, with the participation of a Moscow delegation. The program included business meetings, sports competitions, and cultural events.
The grand opening ceremony was held on December 23, attended by Sergey Cheremin, Minister of the Government of Moscow, Head of the Department for External Economic and International Relations. Guests enjoyed performances by the Moscow State Academic Dance Theater “Gzhel” and the art ensemble “Turetsky Choir.”
As part of Moscow Days in Minsk, a meeting of the Coordination Working Group on Interaction between the City of Moscow and the Republic of Belarus took place on December 24, co-chaired by Sergey Cheremin and Vladimir Kukharev, Chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee. The parties discussed cooperation between the two capitals and reviewed contributions in key areas such as the economy, education, and sports.
According to Sergey Cheremin, in just the first six months of 2024, trade turnover between Moscow-registered companies and Belarusian partners reached USD 10.5 billion—an increase of 7.4% compared to the same period in 2023. Exports from Moscow to Belarus rose by 11.4%, totaling USD 5.4 billion. Imports from Belarus also grew by 3.4% to reach USD 5.1 billion.
“For us, Moscow Days are more than a cultural event. They strengthen our friendship and complement our excellent economic ties. We are proud that Belarus now ranks fourth in terms of foreign trade cooperation with Moscow,” noted Sergey Cheremin.
During Moscow Days, a chess tournament was held between the representative teams of Moscow and Minsk, along with a friendly hockey match between the youth teams (born in 2011) of the two capitals. The festivities concluded with the New Year’s performance “Moscow’s Christmas Tree at the House of Moscow.”
