Moscow Showcases Innovation: Highlights from the New Delhi Expo

From March 19 to 21, New Delhi hosted the 10th Smart Cities India Expo 2025, a key international platform for discussing the future of smart urban development. A delegation from the Moscow Government, led by Sergey Cheremin, Moscow’s Minister and Head of the Department for External Economic and International Relations, took part in the event. The capital presented cutting-edge technological solutions aimed at sustainable development, digital transformation, and improving citizens’ quality of life.

Speaking at a special session on March 19, Minister Cheremin emphasized that Moscow is a global leader in implementing advanced urban technologies, leveraging artificial intelligence, big data analytics, and digital platforms to manage city infrastructure.

“Moscow is one of the few cities that employs nearly all available tools to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals,” Cheremin noted.

On March 20, the 2nd Smart Cities Forum: Russia-India Interregional Cooperation was held, organized by the Moscow Government, the Department for External Economic and International Relations, the Russian Embassy in India, the Russian Trade Mission in India, the Business Council for Cooperation with India, the Moscow Center for International Cooperation (ANPO), the Association of Innovative Regions of Russia, and the India Business Alliance.

The forum brought together government officials from Russia and India, as well as leading companies in IT and urban development. Cheremin highlighted Moscow’s investment opportunities, noting that the city boasts one of the highest economic growth rates among global megacities.

“Moscow offers foreign investors a range of competitive advantages: access to the Russian and CIS markets with a population of 200 million, a highly skilled workforce, and strong scientific and educational potential,” Cheremin stressed.

At the Moscow Government’s exhibition stand, nine Moscow-based companies showcased their latest innovations. Experts demonstrated digital urban infrastructure solutions, video surveillance systems, traffic management technologies, and eco-friendly advancements. The multimedia stand became a major attraction, drawing significant interest in Moscow’s technological progress.

Strengthening International Ties

Cheremin met with Delhi’s Chief Minister, Rekha Gupta, to discuss a new cooperation program, potential knowledge-sharing in urban modernization, transport, digital technologies, and AI implementation, as well as the possibility of organizing “Moscow Days in India.”

The minister also participated in the panel discussion “India’s Smart Cities Mission: From Concept to Reality,” where he presented Moscow’s key technological initiatives. The debate focused on eco-friendly and socially responsible urban development.

“We are actively reinforcing our leadership position by integrating sustainable development principles. Moscow is among the few cities worldwide utilizing nearly all available tools to meet the Sustainable Development Goals,” Cheremin stated.

A Step Forward in Global Collaboration

Moscow’s participation in Smart Cities India Expo 2025 marked a significant step in strengthening international cooperation and Russia-India partnerships. The capital demonstrated its advanced digital and sustainable solutions, reaffirming its status as one of the world’s leading smart cities.

Through global collaboration, best-practice exchanges, and innovative technologies, megacities are becoming more livable, secure, and environmentally friendly for millions of residents.
