Thai Festival in Moscow 2025: An Immersion into the Diversity of Thai Culture
From August 1st to 3rd, 2025, the annual Thai Festival will take place in Moscow’s Hermitage Garden. The event is organized by the Embassy of the Kingdom of Thailand in the Russian Federation, Thai representative offices in Moscow, and the administrations of various Thai provinces, with the participation of several state organizations of the Kingdom. These include the Creative Economy Agency, the Department of Skill Development under the Ministry of Labour, the Department of Fine Arts, and the Department of Public Relations of the Government of Thailand, alongside leading Thai universities. The festival is supported by the Department for External Economic and International Relations of Moscow, the Department of Culture of Moscow, and the autonomous non-profit organization “Moscow Center for International Cooperation.”
Under the theme “The Diversity of Thailand,” the festival will highlight the nation’s cultural and ethnic richness, unique traditions, and arts.
Over the three days, guests will have the opportunity to experience authentic Thai culture and immerse themselves in its unique atmosphere. The program features performances by national folk ensembles from different regions of the kingdom: the North, South, Central, and Northeast. Attendees can look forward to a rich concert schedule. The main stage will host traditional dance and music performances, including vibrant productions prepared by Srinakharinwirot University and Suratthani Rajabhat University. These unique artistic performances will be complemented by modern acts from the musical groups RocketMan and TJF (Thai Fusion Music), as well as the Thai pop artist TiTle (Thanathat Thopjaksu). Throughout the festival, there will be thematic performances by the Thai community in Russia, concerts by Russian creative ensembles, children’s programs from the “New Names” foundation and the “Semitsvetik” ensemble, as well as cultural flash mobs and processions throughout the Hermitage Garden.
A significant highlight of the cultural program will be a performance of Khon mask theatre—the most ancient form of Thai performing art, inscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
A traditional point of interest is the fashion show featuring collections by Thai and Russian designers, which blend national motifs with contemporary trends.
Festival guests can also learn about Muay Thai boxing, with demonstration matches by masters, including representatives from the Russian Muay Thai Sport Federation. One of the special guests will be the legendary fighter Buakaw Banchamek, known as the “Demon of Thai Boxing.”
A food court offering Thai cuisine will be operating throughout the festival. The menu will include such gastronomic hits as Tom Yum, Pad Thai, fresh exotic fruits, and other delicacies. Guests can also participate in cooking and traditional massage workshops, and a Thai market will offer handicrafts and souvenirs.
The official opening ceremony will be held on August 1st at 18:00. It is expected to be attended by His Excellency Mr. Sasiwat Wongsinsawat, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Russian Federation; Mr. Sergey Cheremin, Minister of the Government of Moscow, Head of the Department for External Economic and International Relations; and other officials.
The Thai Festival in Moscow has been held since 2014 and has become an annual highlight on the capital’s cultural calendar. In 2024, it attracted over 50,000 visitors. The festival promotes the strengthening of cultural ties, the development of humanitarian cooperation, and friendly relations between Russia and Thailand.
