Economic and humanitarian events with the participation of Russian compatriots in Dubai (United Arab Emirates)

In the period from December 6 to 9, 2023, a number of economic and humanitarian events held in Dubai (UAE) with the participation of Russian compatriots.

The organizers were the Department for External Economic and International Relations of Moscow, the Moscow Center for International Cooperation and the Moscow House of Compatriot.

The conference “Economic and Humanitarian cooperation, the potential of the Russian Diaspora in modern conditions” was held as part of the complex of events.

The participants were representatives of the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the National Council of the World Congress of Tatars (Russia), the World Business Alliance of Women WBA ALLIANCE (Spain), the NGO “Business Council of Compatriots in Japan” (Japan), the Association of Yakuts in Turkey (Turkey), CSORS Romania and many others. Russian compatriots living in South Africa, Tunisia, Congo, Cyprus, Oman, Senegal, etc. were represented at the conference.

Sergey Cheryomin, Minister of the Government of Moscow, Head of the Department for External Economic and International Relations of Moscow, delivered a welcoming speech at the opening of the conference. Oleg Fomin, General Consul of the Russian Federation in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, also welcomed the participant.

Economic and cultural issues were discussed during the conference. The topics of the conference covered a wide variety of countries where Russian communities are present, touched upon both historical events and modern realities.

On December 8, a round table “Goals, objectives and problems of Russian theaters abroad” held as part of the event. Yuri Polyakov, a Soviet and Russian writer, poet, playwright, screenwriter, public figure, presented the report “Drama and literary basis in theater and cinema”. Olga Bramley, founder and director of the London School of Russian Language and Literature, head of the Fantasia Theater Studio, Daria Supran, artistic director and founder of the Blue Bird Studio Theater in Bulgaria, Victoria Nikolaeva, director, teacher of pop and jazz vocals at the Matryoshka Cultural and Creative Center, took part in the discussion (Greece); Svetlana Kartunova – artistic director of the Russian theater “Mask”, president of the International Traveling Festival “Balaganchik” (Spain). As well as the heads of Russian theaters from Denmark, France, Jordan, Cameroon, Qatar, Morocco, etc.

In addition, master classes on acting and stage movement held at the conference site. Their hosts were representatives of the Russian Institute of Theatrical Art GITIS – Dean of the Acting Faculty Taras Belousov and senior lecturer of the Department of Stage Plastics Robert Elkibaev.
