India and Russia Strengthen Pharmaceutical Partnership

On March 16–17, 2026, an Indian‑Russian meeting of pharmaceutical industry representatives took place in Moscow. The event was organized by the Pharmaceutical Export Promotion Council of India (PHARMEXCIL), the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of the Government of India, and the Indian Embassy in the Russian Federation.

The key goal of the meeting is to strengthen trade ties and elevate bilateral pharmaceutical cooperation to a new level. Delegates from more than 60 leading Indian pharmaceutical companies participated. For Russian partners, this was a unique opportunity for direct negotiations with decision‑makers and to find mutually beneficial contracts with reliable Indian manufacturers.

“Moscow considers the pharmaceutical industry a priority area for international technological cooperation. The capital has developed a strong scientific and industrial base, including pharmaceutical enterprises, research centers, and innovation hubs. This potential creates favorable conditions for localizing production, developing joint research, and implementing advanced medical technologies,” said Vyacheslav Manuilov, Deputy Head of the Department for External Economic and International Relations of Moscow, in his address.

A key role in developing such cooperation is played by the Business Council for Cooperation with India, established under the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Its activities are carried out with the support of the Government of Moscow and the Department for External Economic and International Relations. The Council has become an effective platform for systematic dialogue between Moscow‑based and Indian companies, industry associations, and government agencies. Its work is aimed at expanding business contacts, facilitating investment projects, and promoting industrial cooperation.

The Business Council actively facilitates cooperation in the pharmaceutical sector. Representatives of Moscow enterprises and Indian companies participate in specialized industry forums, conferences, and business meetings, where they discuss the introduction of new technologies, the development of biopharmaceutical production, and joint scientific research. At such events, Russian companies reaffirm their interest in expanding collaboration with Indian partners in the development of biotech products and high‑tech pharmaceuticals.
