Moscow and Harbin: A New Stage of Bilateral Cooperation at the Russian‑Chinese Expo and Moscow Days
From May 17 to 21, the delegation of the Government of Moscow led by Sergey Cheremin, Minister of the Government of Moscow and Head of the Department for External Economic and International Relations, will visit Harbin. The visit will include participation in the 10th Russian‑Chinese Expo and the holding of “Moscow Days in Harbin.”
The 10th Russian‑Chinese Expo is one of the key international platforms for developing interregional cooperation between Russia and China. Moscow’s participation aims to showcase the capital’s investment, industrial, and technological potential, as well as to expand practical cooperation with Chinese regions.
On the opening day, Sergey Cheremin will take part in an official tour of the exhibition, visiting the stands of participating regions, and will present the stand of the Government of Moscow, where he will deliver a report on the development of Moscow‑China cooperation covering economic, transport, and humanitarian projects. The capital’s exposition will feature indicators of Moscow’s socio‑economic development, modern solutions in digitalization, transport, and the urban environment, as well as examples of scientific and humanitarian cooperation.
The business program includes participation in the 6th Russian‑Chinese Forum on Interregional Cooperation and a panel discussion titled “Moscow – Harbin: Prospects for Business, Foreign Trade and Investment Cooperation.” The delegation will also take part in a specialized conference on “Modern Practices of Sustainable Urban Development” and a Russian‑Chinese conference on trade and economic cooperation.
Concurrently with the Expo’s business program, Moscow Days in Harbin will take place, organized by the Department for External Economic and International Relations of the City of Moscow. The program covers business, cultural, educational, and sports events.
The events include a conference “Bridge of Memory: Moscow – Harbin,” accompanied by a photo exhibition “Victory Parade in Harbin,” and an exhibition “Along the Russian Addresses of Harbin.” A screening of the documentary “Remembering Russian Harbin” is also planned.
The cultural program includes the opening of the exhibition “Peoples of Russia” from the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts and the exhibition “Planet Tchaikovsky” from the Russian National Museum of Music. There will also be a gala concert for Moscow Days in Harbin, featuring a performance by the ensemble Bel Suono – a virtuoso piano trio – as well as a colorful performance by the Russian folk song ensemble “Lyubo‑Milo.”
The business and educational agenda is complemented by a specialized conference “Dialogue Platform – InterVUZ: City on the Move,” meetings with Russian compatriots, and visits to Harbin Polytechnic University and urban infrastructure sites, including the pilot free trade zone and the New Area of Harbin.
The sports program includes friendly competitions in hockey and table tennis between teams from Moscow and Harbin, as well as masterclasses for athletes from both cities.
Special attention will be given to commemorative events, including a wreath‑laying ceremony at the monument to Soviet soldiers who fell while liberating Northeast China.
During the visit, a meeting with Harbin’s leadership will also take place, at which a new cooperation program between Moscow and Harbin for 2027‑2029 is expected to be signed.
The visit of the delegation of the Government of Moscow reaffirms the development of bilateral cooperation and will help strengthen business and humanitarian ties, as well as expand practical interaction between Moscow and Chinese partners.
