Moscow Days in Kazakhstan Successfully Conclude in Astana

A large‑scale Moscow Days program took place in the capital of Kazakhstan, timed to coincide with a significant anniversary — the 25th anniversary of the establishment of twinning relations between Moscow and Astana. The events, organized by the Department for External Economic and International Relations of Moscow with the support of the Akimat of Astana, became an important event in the development of interregional and humanitarian dialogue.

The program opened with the New Year’s children’s play “Buratino and Father Frost” on the stage of the M. Gorky State Academic Russian Drama Theatre, which gathered more than 400 young spectators. Moscow Father Frost congratulated the winners of the creative drawing contest “New Year’s Miracle,” organized by the Russian House in Astana.

The sports component of the program included competitions and masterclasses in judo at Nazarbayev University, as well as in rhythmic gymnastics at the Duman Sports Complex. These events facilitated professional experience exchange and strengthened ties between the sports communities of the two capitals.

The business and educational part of Moscow Days was marked by an insightful open lecture by Sergey Cheremin, Minister of the Government of Moscow and Head of the Department for External Economic and International Relations, at the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University. The lecture, dedicated to the role of megacities in international relations, aroused keen interest from the audience. In addition, during the roundtable “Moscow‑Astana Bilateral Relations: 25 Years. Results,” experts summarized the cooperation and discussed promising vectors for partnership.

The program concluded with a gala concert on behalf of the Moscow Government featuring the musical group “Eilenkrig Crew.” On the same evening, the award ceremony for “Moscow and Astana: 25 Years Together” took place. Awards were given to state and public institutions, representatives of government bodies, educational and cultural organizations, as well as the tourism and service sectors, who have made significant contributions to strengthening ties between the capitals.

The events not only highlighted the depth of existing cooperation but also laid a solid foundation for its further fruitful development.
