Moscow is preparing to welcome a delegation from the Almaty Region: the “Moscow – Kazakhstan Business Dialogue” will take place in the capital

Moscow will host a delegation from the Almaty Region of the Republic of Kazakhstan on September 8, 2025. As part of the visit, the “Moscow – Kazakhstan Business Dialogue” is planned, bringing together representatives of government authorities, business communities, and business associations from the two regions.

The event aims to foster and strengthen bilateral cooperation across a wide range of sectors, including trade, investment, digital technologies, creative industries, and tourism. The main focus will be on implementing joint projects, expanding cooperation, and exchanging practical experience, which will take partnership relations to a new level.

The visit program will begin with a tour of the Moscow City Situational Center. Delegates will get to explore the capital’s digital twin — a cutting-edge technology that allows for real-time urban process management, infrastructure development forecasting, and the safety of the metropolis’s residents. This experience has already drawn interest from Moscow’s international partners and has become a benchmark for implementing smart city solutions.

The key part of the program will be the business forum “Moscow – Kazakhstan Business Dialogue.” Speakers from Moscow will include representatives of the Department for External Economic and International Relations, and the Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovative Development. The Almaty Region will be represented by officials from the Department of Entrepreneurship and Industrial-Innovative Development, and the Department of Tourism. Representatives of Moscow businesses will also speak at the forum, ensuring dialogue at all levels. The forum’s goal is to create sustainable communication channels between entrepreneurs of the two regions and identify new avenues for business cooperation. The discussions are expected to cover a wide range of topics — from trade and economic ties and industrial cooperation to digital transformation, support for small and medium-sized businesses, tourism development, and cultural exchanges.

Special attention will be given to innovative areas where Moscow and Kazakhstan already have successful experience in cooperation. Russia and Kazakhstan are implementing over 100 joint projects across various industries, including mechanical engineering, chemicals, and agriculture. The total investment in these projects is approximately $22 billion. In recent years, the Russian capital has been actively sharing its expertise in information technology, digital governance, and the implementation of public services. For the Almaty Region, which is focusing on economic modernization and developing digital solutions, familiarizing itself with Moscow’s practices could provide significant impetus for new projects.

The economic foundation of cooperation between Moscow and Kazakhstan appears very solid. At the end of 2024, trade turnover between organizations registered in the Russian capital and partners from Kazakhstan reached $8.9 billion, a 9.3% increase compared to the previous year. In the first three months of 2025, this figure grew by another 14.2%, reaching $1.9 billion. Meanwhile, exports from Moscow to Kazakhstan in January–March increased by 23.1%, hitting $1.2 billion. These figures confirm the growing interest of business circles in joint projects and the stability of economic interaction.

Organizers emphasize that the meeting will serve as a platform for establishing new business contacts. For Moscow, it is an opportunity to showcase its innovative and export potential, while for the Almaty Region, it is a chance to demonstrate its competitive advantages and expand cooperation with one of the world’s largest metropolitan areas.

It is expected that as a result of the visit, areas of work will be identified in fields such as trade, digitalization, creative industries, and tourism. This will significantly strengthen partnership ties and create conditions for long-term, mutually beneficial cooperation between Moscow and Kazakhstan.
