Moscow to Present Cultural Heritage Preservation at Heritage Istanbul

A Moscow delegation led by Sergey Cheremin, Minister of the Government of Moscow and Head of the Department for External Economic and International Relations, will take part in the Heritage Istanbul exhibition. The event will be held in the Turkish capital from March 31 to April 4 and will bring together leading experts from both countries in the fields of archaeology, restoration, and museum and library work.

At the Moscow city stand, exhibitors will present projects and digital solutions for the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage. The exposition will showcase scientific restoration practices and the various formats implemented by Russian museums and archives. Visitors to the stand will be introduced to current trends and innovative technologies that the city uses to restore architectural monuments and integrate historical sites into the modern urban environment. Sergey Cheremin will take part in the official opening of the stand.

The exhibition program includes not only a large‑scale exhibition but also conferences, seminars, and professional masterclasses. Key topics include digital documentation, 3D modeling, and the adaptation of cultural heritage sites for contemporary use.

Members of the delegation of Moscow will hold talks with international partners to exchange expertise and discuss promising joint projects. Meetings are also planned with the heads of cultural heritage departments from various Turkish cities and municipalities. During the visit, the Moscow delegation will tour ongoing restoration work at several of the country’s landmarks: Yedikule Fortress, the Church of St. Polyeuctus, and the Hagia Sophia Grand Mosque.

Co‑exhibitors include ICOMOS Russia, the “VDNKh Expo” and “VDNKh Metaverse” projects, and the “Restoration Workshop” project. The stand will also feature projects and materials from the Kolomenskoye‑Izmailovo Moscow State United Museum‑Reserve, the Museum of Moscow, and the Tsaritsyno State Historical‑Architectural, Artistic and Landscape Museum‑Reserve.

It is worth noting that the Russian capital and Turkey have long enjoyed close cooperation in various fields, particularly in culture. Moscow and Turkish partners are developing direct interaction between cultural, scientific, educational, information, and sports institutions, associations, and organizations. The two sides are promoting joint initiatives and events in the field of cultural heritage. Cooperation in this area is one of the key pillars of the humanitarian and cultural dialogue between Moscow and Turkish cities. Moscow’s participation in the Heritage Istanbul exhibition will help foster professional dialogue, implement joint initiatives, and exchange experience in restoration, monument protection, and the promotion of cultural heritage. The Russian capital will be able to further strengthen its status as a leading center for cultural heritage preservation.

The event is organized with the support and patronage of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey, the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, relevant institutions and directorates, local municipalities, and public organizations.
