Russia – India Business Dialogue Held at SPIEF‑2026

St. Petersburg, June 4, 2026. The Russia – India business dialogue took place at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. The session was moderated by Sergey Cheremin – Minister of the Government of Moscow and Head of the Department for External Economic and International Relations.

During the discussion, participants explored prospects for deepening trade, economic, and technological cooperation between the two countries. A key topic was the implementation of the economic cooperation program up to 2030, approved at the highest level in December 2025.

Cheremin emphasized the strategic nature of the Russia‑India partnership. In his remarks, he noted:

“Russia and India share a special and privileged strategic partnership. Last year, foreign economic turnover between the two countries reached nearly $70 billion. Moscow’s foreign trade turnover with India exceeded $35 billion during the same period. As the Moscow Government, we also see a positive trend in the growth of foreign trade ties between residents of Russia’s capital and Indian partners.”

Particular attention was paid to modernizing trade and economic mechanisms, attracting private investment, and building a more balanced trade structure. Participants discussed steps to accelerate the implementation of joint projects and the prospects for deepening cooperation within the BRICS framework.

The panel session was attended by Alexey Chekunkov, Minister of the Russian Federation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic; Vladimir Ilyichev, Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation; Denis Alipov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of India; Vinay Kumar, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to the Russian Federation; and other officials.

Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their readiness to increase cooperation across all key areas and work toward achieving target indicators, including increasing mutual trade turnover to $100 billion.
