Russia – Thailand Business Dialogue Held at SPIEF‑2026
The event was attended by Sergey Cheremin, Minister of the Government of Moscow and Head of the Department for External Economic and International Relations.
In his remarks, Cheremin emphasized that relations between Moscow and Bangkok span more than 25 years and remain an example of sustainable inter‑municipal cooperation. He noted that the first cooperation agreement between the cities was signed in 1997, and in 2023 the parties concluded another program that remains in effect. This program covers a wide range of areas: transport development, infrastructure, digitalization, housing and utilities, the introduction of digital technologies in municipal governance, as well as cooperation in healthcare, education, and culture.
The Minister announced plans to sign a new cooperation program between Moscow and Bangkok in 2026, covering the period up to 2028, which will take into account current foreign economic realities.
The business dialogue also addressed topics such as overcoming barriers in bilateral trade, transitioning to settlements in national currencies, developing new transport routes, expanding investment cooperation, implementing green technologies, and building smart cities. Particular attention was paid to the role of interregional interaction as a tool for exchanging experience and implementing innovations.
In the second half of 2026, Moscow Days in Thailand are planned, featuring an economic forum, specialized conferences, and cultural events with the participation of Moscow creative groups.
