Russian Embassy in New Delhi Hosts Reception Celebrating Russia Day

On June 11, 2024, a grand official reception was held in the Indian capital to mark Russia Day. The Indian delegation was led by Vinay Kwatra, First Deputy Minister of External Affairs of the Republic of India.

The event was attended by senior leaders of various Indian political parties, members of parliament, high-ranking officials, business representatives, ambassadors and military-diplomatic corps members, prominent cultural and artistic figures, journalists, as well as members of the Russian expatriate community.

Russian Ambassador to India Denis Alipov delivered a welcome address, highlighting Russia’s consistent strengthening of its position on the global stage amid the formation of a multipolar world order. The head of the Russian diplomatic mission also emphasized the country’s growing technological and financial sovereignty, as well as its steadfast commitment to deepening multilateral friendship and strategic partnership with India. Adding a unique touch to the evening, Oleg Kononenko, Russian cosmonaut and commander of the International Space Station crew, sent congratulatory remarks from orbit. The event was further enlivened by a concert by the jazz ensemble “JazzPlay,” organized with the support of the Government of Moscow.
