The Delegation of the Government of Moscow to Visit Turkey
The Delegation of the Government of Moscowwill travel to the Republic of Turkey on a working visit from September 22 to 27. Representatives of the Russian capital will visit Ankara and Antalya to expand mutually beneficial cooperation between the cities. The delegation will be led by Sergey Cheremin, Minister of the Government of Moscow, Head of the Department for External Economic and International Relations of Moscow.
The Ankara Municipality is one of the most priority partners for the Government of Moscow in Turkey. The two capitals have great potential for experience exchange and cooperation in various areas of urban management. Moscow traditionally collaborates with Ankara on transport infrastructure development, including sharing experience in integrating cable cars into urban transport systems. New prospects for cooperation will be discussed on September 23 during meetings of the Moscow delegation with Alexey Yerkhov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Turkey, as well as with representatives of the Ankara Municipality leadership.
On September 23, a conference titled “Moscow – Ankara: A New Stage of Partnership” will also take place. Participants will consider the implementation of joint projects and ways to diversify trade and economic interaction. In addition, a specialized roundtable on cooperation in cultural heritage will be held. Moscow pays great attention to cultural cooperation with Ankara. A thematic photo exhibition dedicated to Moscow, which will open in the Turkish capital, is a testament to this.
Priority areas for interaction with Antalya include urban studies, tourism, culture, education, and green technologies. In August 2024, an Antalya delegation visited the Russian capital to take part in the International Transport Summit and the International Municipal BRICS Forum. During that visit, a document was signed on Antalya joining the Moscow Government’s international project UrbanTransportData. Moscow and Antalya are also stepping up dialogue on supporting Russian‑speaking compatriots. Therefore, the Moscow delegation’s visit program includes a meeting with compatriots living in Antalya.
On September 26, a conference entitled “Moscow – Antalya: Experience. Trends. Opportunities” will be held at the Antalya Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The event aims to develop cooperation on current topics with entrepreneurs from the Anatolian region of the Republic of Turkey. Conference participants will present Russian innovative projects to the Turkish business community, discuss investment opportunities for Turkish businesses in Moscow, and explore prospects for entering the Moscow market.
A significant part of the program is dedicated to cultural and sports cooperation between the Russian capital and Antalya. During the Moscow delegation’s visit, on August 25, the jazz ensemble of Vadim Eilenkrig will perform at the Akm Aspendos Salonu concert hall. On September 26, a roundtable on cooperation in cultural heritage will take place. Participants will include representatives of the Moscow Department of Cultural Heritage, the Kolomenskoye Museum‑Reserve, and the Tsaritsyno Museum‑Reserve, all of which possess vast experience in the restoration and promotion of cultural and historical monuments. A thematic photo exhibition will showcase Moscow’s cultural heritage in all its diversity.
Additionally, a lecture on the Russian language and literature will be given at the Moscow International School in Antalya with the participation of children’s author and philologist Anna Goncharova. The same venue will host masterclasses in traditional Russian gorodki sport, sambo, and strength sports. Moscow and Antalya regularly organize exchanges of sports delegations. In 2024, youth football teams from Moscow and Antalya played friendly matches in Antalya, and in 2025, they played in Moscow.
