XVI Russian‑Indian Business Dialogue Takes Place in Moscow
On December 16, the opening ceremony of the XVI Russian‑Indian Business Dialogue was held at the International Multimedia Press Centre of the Rossiya Segodnya news agency. The significant event was organized by the Indian Business Alliance (IBA), the Business Council for Cooperation with India, the Government of Moscow, and the Roscongress Foundation. The event marks an important stage in the consistent development of multifaceted relations between the two countries.
The central element of the dialogue program was the plenary session “Strengthening the Strategic Partnership between India and Russia in a Changing World Order.” During the session, participants discussed in detail the practical outcomes of the 23rd Russian‑Indian Summit, held in Delhi, which set long‑term guidelines for bilateral cooperation. Experts focused on strategic partnership, trade settlement issues, ensuring the resilience of logistics and financial chains, deepening industrial cooperation, as well as prospects for collaboration in energy, technology, and innovation. Considerable attention was also paid to the humanitarian dimension, including human capital development, expanding academic exchanges, and cultural dialogue. The forum once again confirmed its status as a authoritative platform for direct dialogue between government representatives, heads of major companies, investors, and industry analysts.
Sergey Cheremin, Minister of the Government of Moscow, Head of the Department for External Economic and International Relations of Moscow, and Chairman of the Business Council for Cooperation with India, actively participated in the plenary session. He spoke about the dynamic development of interregional ties, highlighting the recently successfully held Moscow Days in India, which became a vivid demonstration of deepening humanitarian and business interaction between the Russian capital and Indian partners. He also noted the steady growth of business activity and the practical orientation of Russian‑Indian cooperation: “Russian‑Indian contacts demonstrate confident momentum — more than 50 joint business events have taken place over the past year. Today, the focus is on localizing Indian businesses in Russia, developing industrial cooperation, pharmaceuticals, electronics and creative industries, as well as increasing mutual investments and supplies of high‑tech products.”
As part of the business dialogue, five thematic sessions were also held on key aspects of cooperation. Participants discussed logistics, production cooperation and industrial localization, including the development of the International North‑South Transport Corridor and the creation of joint manufacturing facilities. Serious attention was given to trade, banking support and financial operations, including mechanisms for settlements in national currencies. Experts thoroughly examined legal, tax, and regulatory aspects of doing business, issues of human capital development, migration policy and educational partnerships, as well as prospects for interaction in high technologies, energy, pharmaceuticals, and innovative industries.
A meeting of the Business Council for Cooperation with India also took place, attended by its members. Sergey Cheremin presented a report on the Council’s work results for 2025. In his remarks, he noted the expanding range of interaction, in particular the active development of creative industries. Prospects for Indian enterprises to enter the clothing supply market and their participation in joint creative projects were considered. In addition, the possibility of attracting Bollywood companies to work in Moscow’s film clusters was discussed. The growing interest of Indian municipalities in exchanging experience and applying Moscow’s digital solutions for urban environment development was also emphasized.
Cooperation in education, as well as interaction in migration policy — including discussions on creating Russian language training centers and qualification certification for employees from India — were named as important vectors. Furthermore, the Business Council actively participates in key events organized by the Roscongress Foundation, such as the “Russia‑India” business dialogue at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum and the Russian‑Indian Business Forum.
“The number of events that have been held demonstrates the growing interest of the Indian business community,” Sergey Cheremin emphasized in his speech. The XVI Russian‑Indian Business Dialogue proved to be a productive platform for direct dialogue between representatives of business circles of the two countries. The event confirmed the shared commitment of Russia and India to strengthening their strategic partnership and set a positive dynamic for the implementation of joint projects in the near future.
